Monday Morning Magic, June 27, 2022 — I’m sure many of us wish we could magically undo last week’s Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v Wade. But from the ashes often comes hope for an even better future. At least, that’s the vision of three powerhouse women who saw the writing on the wall in September when Texas banned abortion. Knowing they had to do something about the devastating shift in policy, they conducted a three-part series entitled “What’s Abortion Got to Do With It?”

In the series: You’ll learn about the impact and consequences of the new Texas abortion law from our panel: award-winning documentary filmmaker and founder of Voices4Change Tracy Schott, founder of RESPOND Against Violence attorney Kelsey McKay, and social worker Erica Olson. Be sure to listen to all three shows! Please scroll down to meet our esteemed panel.

We invite you to explore all three episodes as podcasts on Voices4Change Radio.

We leave you with this parting thought from Tracy’s award-winning documentary about putting an end to domestic abuse: “At the time I released the film Finding Jenn’s Voice in 2015, I was furious. My award-winning documentary about intimate partner violence (IPV), one of the leading causes of death during pregnancy, was my first foray into discussing the horrors of domestic abuse. In the years since I realized one film was not enough to end this epidemic. On average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the US — more than 10 million women and men yearly. As a social worker, I saw these horrors up close. When I practiced for 15 years as a child and family therapist, many adult and child abuse victims came to me to heal from their emotional injuries. That is why in 2019, I created Voices4Change. I know it will take all of us to come together first to understand that this is happening in our communities, perhaps in the house next to you — or maybe in your own home. To bring us together, we need to know the facts. And then we need to work together to end this global epidemic.” Click here to read more!
