Monday Morning Magic from Inkandescent® PR + Publishing Co.Hello friends! It is a pleasure to bring you the Summer 2025 issue of BeInkandescent.com, our health and wellness business magazine.

For starters: We want to share this quote from Eric Hoffer (1902-1983). “In times of change, learners inherit the earth, while the learned find themselves beautifully equipped to deal with a world that no longer exists.”

An American philosopher and social critic, Hoffer was a conservative moderate with an atypical working-class background. He authored 10 books over his career, including “The True Believer,” “The Change Ordeal,” and “Reflections on the Human Condition.” Eric was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in February 1983. Today, we celebrate his insights and invite you to learn more about his work and the Book Award given in his memory. Wisdom like his, along with education and support, will likely be the gifts that help us find the personal independence we wish for, come what may.

Next: I’d like to introduce you to  Martin Mycielski, director of public affairs of the Open Dialogue Foundation in Brussels. Our Empowered Together Network board member, Eva Ross, introduced us to the work of this leader. After a brief email exchange, Martin gave Inkandescent permission to feature his “Authoritarian Regime Survival Guide.” First written as a series of improvised, spontaneous tweets, it reached 3 million views within one month in 2017. His Guide remains not only a manifesto for how to function under an authoritarian regime, it is a powerful description and warning of how the lives of citizens — regardless of how they voted — change when freedom and democracy falter or fall. Click here to read Martin’s advice, and please share it widely!

Life abroad: Do check out our interview with Eva, a life coach living in Canada, where she’s experiencing what it means to be an American expat in this uncertain time.

Mourning in America: “What’s Next is your Mindset” is one of the big lessons taught by the founding fathers (and mothers) during the Revolutionary War, for great change comes when you focus on what you truly believe in. And then you join forces with others. That’s why on Nov. 5, 2024, women’s leader Cynthia de Lorenzi, AlinaZ, Eva and I founded The Empowered Together Network on InkandescentWomen.com.  In the months since, Cynthia began a column called Mourning in America. This summer she shares insights following the July 4 passage of Donald Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill. “Inner peace is a powerful antidote to chaos. These strategies can help me stay grounded, even when the world feels unsteady.” Click here to read all about it.

Good news: The truth of the situation we’re facing is that a small minority can change the world. Called the 3.5% rule, this political science concept posits that when 3.5% of a country’s population protests nonviolently against its government, that government is likely to fall from power. Formulated by Erica Chenoweth in 2013, the idea arose out of insights originally published by political scientist Mark Lichbach in 1995 in his book The Rebel’s Dilemma: Economics, Cognition, and Society. Read more about her work here.

Add a little joy in your day: Check out Danny Gokey’s magical song, Peace.

Stay calm, cool, and compassionate, dear friends. And continue to be the changemaker you wish to see. Peace and love to you!

Until next Monday: I send love, thanks, and wishes that your lifelong dreams come true! — Hope Katz Gibbs, founder and president, Inkandescent® Inc. Inkandescent.us
